NASCAR Drivers Spar with UFC Legend & Reveal 2026 Horsepower Changes | LEGACY MOTOR CLUB (2025)

Get ready for an exciting journey into the world of racing and the unique experiences of two talented drivers!

The Legacy Motor Club's Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek share their insights and stories, offering a glimpse into the fascinating world of NASCAR and beyond.

But here's where it gets controversial... these drivers aren't just talking about racing; they're delving into the world of UFC and its potential synergies with NASCAR.

Nemechek and Jones, both part of the Legacy Motor Club, had the opportunity to tour the UFC Performance Institute, an experience they describe as "super unique" and "interesting." They compared it to their own training at the Toyota Performance Center, noting the similarities in equipment and resources.

"Being able to train with Forrest Griffin, a UFC legend, was a highlight," Nemechek said. "Sparring with him was a good time, and it was fascinating to understand their mindset and preparation for fights."

Jones, however, had a different take on the sparring session. "I was scared to try and hit him in the face as he instructed. His eyes got crazy, and I didn't want to get hit myself!"

When asked about the synergies between UFC and NASCAR, Jones highlighted the influence of partners and the personality of the sport. "The UFC embraces the personalities of its fighters, which is something we could learn from."

Nemechek, on the other hand, focused on the importance of respect when racing against championship drivers. "We're here to win races and provide the best opportunity for our team. We've made improvements, and these races are crucial, especially with the Playoff format."

As for their interaction with Sean Strickland, both drivers described him as funny and entertaining. "He doesn't hold back," Nemechek said, adding that it was a refreshing change from the usual corporate environment.

When it comes to their team's progress, Jones believes they're in a better position now. "We have good leadership and talented engineers, but they lack experience. Growing that group is crucial for our future success."

Nemechek agrees, noting that they've learned from their struggles at Kansas and are excited to apply those lessons at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. "We're trying different avenues to make our cars better."

The drivers also discussed the potential changes to horsepower and the Playoffs for 2026. Nemechek is excited for more horsepower, believing it could improve racing on short tracks. Jones, however, is more cautious, having seen the sport go through various horsepower packages. "I don't know if going faster always means better racing."

And this is the part most people miss... the drivers shared their memories of working with Venturini Motorsports. Jones recalled his win at Berlin, a hometown track, while Nemechek described his experience at Mid-Ohio, where he qualified on the pole but finished fifth or sixth due to a strategic decision.

Finally, when it comes to compensating for weather differences, Jones predicts a challenging day of racing due to the temperature sensitivity of the track. "It'll be a fine balance to carry the right amount of speed without ruining your lap."

So, what do you think? Are you ready to dive deeper into the world of racing and explore these drivers' unique perspectives? Don't be shy; share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
