In the finale of Peacemaker Season 2, a significant scene features Rick Flag Sr. and A.R.G.U.S. experimenting with the Quantum Unfolding Chamber to traverse different dimensions. James Gunn shared during a virtual press event that he had hoped one of those alternate dimensions would reveal Deadpool himself. Surprisingly, Ryan Reynolds was enthusiastic about the idea and open to participating. "I wanted them to open a door and just see Deadpool sitting there," Gunn revealed. He added humorously, "We’d have had to jump through some very complicated hoops to make it happen. Ryan was all in. Now, you can bet all anyone is going to talk about is that moment of Deadpool in the other room."
Of course, combining Marvel’s Deadpool with the DC universe is no small feat and would have required intense negotiations between high-level executives at both Marvel and DC studios. It’s fair to say this ambitious concept was probably destined to remain a fascinating “what if” scenario rather than a reality, no matter how fun such a crossover could have been.
Looking beyond this tantalizing near-miss, James Gunn has made it clear there are no current plans for a Peacemaker Season 3. "That doesn’t mean these characters are done—there are still plans in the works—but it’s not necessarily going to be another Peacemaker season," Gunn explained. He encouraged viewers to watch Episode 8 closely, noting that some big questions might be answered in that installment alone.
