Cadillac's forgotten flagship sedan, the CT6, is still alive and kicking in China, and it's cheaper than ever. The second-generation CT6 has been updated with new tech, a refreshed interior, and a lower starting price, making it a more affordable option for luxury sedan buyers in the country.
The CT6's journey began in 2019, when the first-generation model was released in the United States, priced from $58,995 for the Luxury trim. Fast forward to 2023, and Cadillac gave the CT6 a thorough refresh, making visual updates and upgrading the interior. The newest iteration is mostly the same, but it now comes with a flamboyant white leather interior known as Cloud Tranquility White.
The CT6 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 233 hp (174 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. One of the most important updates for 2026 is the latest version of the Magnetic Ride Control, a system that uses magnetorheological fluid and electromagnets to improve both comfort and handling.
The cabin is dominated by a curved 33-inch 9K display using the latest Cadillac operating system and supporting over-the-air updates. Buyers can order the CT6 with GM's Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system, which includes six cameras, six millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. Interestingly, there's no LiDAR, which has become quite commonplace on high-end vehicles sold in the local market.
Other important features include a thumping 19-speaker AKG audio system with speakers in the headrests and active noise cancellation. There is also a configurable ambient lighting system, a wireless smartphone charger, and plenty of brushed aluminum trim throughout.
Despite Cadillac's efforts, the CT6 occupies only a small corner of the brand's Chinese sales chart. Through the first six months of the year, just 209 examples have been sold, a reminder that even in China's expansive luxury market, not every flagship finds a following. However, the CT6 remains a staple of Cadillac's Chinese lineup, refreshed once again to keep pace with the market's steady appetite for premium sedans.
